Vishal’s day out: Puratchi Thalapathi visits memorials of late leaders before filing nomination

Vishal who recently took everyone by surprise with his decision to contest the RK Nagar by-polls is filing his nomination today. Before reaching the electoral office, the actor made a series of stops at various memorials to pay respects to late leaders from the state. Vishal kick-started his tour with a visit to a temple.

After the temple, Vishal visited the Kamaraj memorial in T. Nagar, Chennai. He paid his respects to the glorious leader by garlanding his statue. A Bharat Rathna awardee the later chief minister was one of the most prolific leaders in the political history of Tamil Nadu

Vishal's next stop was at the house of the late MG Ramachandran in Ramapuram. The actor marked the visit by paying his respects to MGR and his late wife Janaki Ramachandran, both ex-chief ministers of the state.

With a cinematic background, MGR is considered to be a benchmark for actors who forayed into politics. The founder of the current ruling party AIADMK, MGR enjoys a cult status in Tamil Nadu's political history.

Post MGR's house, Vishal made a stop at Perarignar Anna's memorial at the Marina beach in Chennai. Another landmark personality in the social history of TN politics, C.N.Annadurai laid the foundation for the other major Dravidian party DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam)

A leader closer to the contemporary, Vishal's next stop was at the memorial of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa. The supremo of AIADMK since MGR's death, Jayalalithaa was also an actor before her political foray, later turning into one of the most important leaders in the state.
