BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday alleged that the incumbent government was formulating various blueprints to destroy the country's youth community in a planned manner to stop their protests against its misrule.
The BNP chief made the allegation in a statement condemning and protesting the arrest and torture of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal General Secretary Akramul Hasan in the name of police remand in 'false' cases.
She alleged thousands of leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal were being detained across the country to prevent the youth force from taking part in courageous movement against the present misrule.
"Aim of the government is to prolong its illegal power through crushing the youth community under horrible misrule and to scare them by arresting and torturing in the name of remand," the former prime minister said.
She said the spirit of youth against repression and injustice could never be suppressed.
Demanding unconditional release of the JCD leader, the BNP chief claimed that people are now more united to resist implementation of the blueprints to destroy the nationalist forces.
Meanwhile, BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said that his party is prepared to carry out a movement and taking part in the next general elections hand in hand.
"There is no scope for any compromise. BNP is ready for the movement and elections hand in hand," Abbas said while speaking at a discussion organised by Jatiyatabadi Projonmo Ekattor, a pro-BNP organization, at the National Press Club in the capital.
Criticizing the lopsided January 5, 2014 elections, the former minister said this time the people won't allow that type of elections in the country.
"The election should be held in line with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's outline," he added.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, Adv Abdus Salam Azad, Kazi Abul Basher and Abu Naser Mohammed Rahmatullah, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
