IGNCA, IGRMS collaborate to organise seminar

Giving information about the organizing of the seminar, BL Malla (Project Director, IGNCA, New Delhi) said that the three-day national seminar from December 5 would be organized by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sanghrahalaya (IGRMS), Bhopal.

It is being held with an objective of exploring the new perspectives on the rock art and ethno-archaeological aspects of Central India. It will bring together eminent scholars of the concerned field who will provide fresh insights on the subject and will disseminate rich knowledge to the attendees at the seminar.

 The present seminar aims to delve deep upon the recent methodological and technical issues concerning the rock art studies of central Indian states with special reference to Madhya Pradesh. It may address important issues related to theoretical as well as cultural resources associated with rock art in the region, its research, status of conservation, its significance in ethno-archaeological context and inventorization of rock art sites of the region.

 The inaugural function of the seminar is scheduled on December 5, at 10:30 am, in the Rock Art Conference Hall, IGRMS, Bhopal. The Chief Guest of the inaugural session will be Prof. Pramod K Verma (Vice Chancellor, Barkatullah University, Bhopal) and Prof Rahman Ali will be the Chairperson. Sarit K Chaudhuri (Director, IGRMS) will deliver welcome address and BL Malla (Project Director, Adi Drishya Department, IGNCA, New Delhi) will give inaugural address about the seminar and IGNCA’S Contribution in Rock Art studies.
