The Gunners have been in mixed form this season, having lost to Manchester United at home despite having 33 shots.

Wenger is the longest-serving manager in the Premier League having been at the helm for 21 years.

He is renowned for his attractive style of play, having accumulated three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups.

However, former Gunner Adams has told fans to never expect another league won at the club whilst Wenger is in charge.

The Frenchman’s side are fifteen points adrift of league leaders Manchester City and have not topped the table in 14 years.

“I don't think they can”

When asked whether Wenger could win the league with Arsenal again, Adams told Sky Sport’s Goals on Sunday: "He's contracted for another 18 months, so you're asking me whether this squad can do it.

“I don't think they can, I think that's pretty obvious.

"But how long will he go on for now? How old is he 67? He's already said retirement is death to him, so you can't see him retiring and there doesn't seem to be anything outside of the game for him.

"It wouldn't be beyond me to see him sign another extension for another couple of years as well."

The English defender was a pivotal part of Wenger’s first Premier League title-winning team in 1998, captaining the Gunners to glory.

Adams in his book claimed Wenger is “essentially not a coach” whilst the former Monaco boss responded by calling Adams “sad”.
