Surat: BJP MP from Ahmedabad (east) and bollywood actor Paresh Rawal took potshots on Congress on Monday during the public meeting at Kotsafil Road.

"I am a Brahmin and no one better than me know Sadar Patel because I have done his role in a film. You will find Patels in every nook and corner of this world. They are the owners of motels and are big businessmen. All this they have earned without reservation. Now, there is a brigade of few Patels who are out on the streets with the banners of Sardar Patel and asking people to support Congress, which has done injustice to Sardar," he said.

"Sardar Patel received Bharat Ratna award after 30 years, Rajiv Gandhi received it within three years and Indira Gandhi received it instantly. At one time, Congressmen were saying that Indira is the bigger leader than Sardar Patel," he added.

Throwing a challenge, Rawal said, " Rahul (Gandhi) is visiting temple these days in Gujarat. I want to challenge him to keep nine days Navratri fast like Modiji, who drinks only water during those days."

"You want to project yourself as Hindu, but you have given affidavit against Ram in the court," said Rawal referring to Congress government's affidavit in Ram temple case in court.

Rawal accused Congress of instigating a section of community. "I saw a video clip of the meeting of Vagra Congress candidate where he is instigating the public saying they work hard for one day for five years will do the 'dadagiri'" the MP said.
