“Congress ruled Uttar Pradesh for decades. Generations of Gandhi-Nehru family has elected from the largest state of India. But neither the party nor the family did anything for the state. Uttar Pradesh’s people gave fitting reply by wiping them out. Now people Gujarat will follow them,’’ he said accusing the opposition party of seeking to divide society on the basis of caste and religion.

Appealing people to re-elect the saffron party for safety, peace and property of the bordering state, Modi said that there was a time when frequent communal riots used to happen in different parts of the state. Once BJP came into power, communal harmony and peace prevailing for almost two decades, he added.

Despite the fact Bharuch and Kutch districts are having high population Muslims, both the district progressed under BJP rule he claimed adding that for his party development is the target and development is its intention.

He said that the train would be made by Japanese but cement, steel and labour to prepare infrastructure for it which would enhance growth opportunities for the people.

Modi who contested first ever election of his life from Rajkot West assembly constituency in the year 2001 thanked people of the city. He said that current leadership of Congress party had registered a record of maximum defeats which no one could break. “Time has ripened for Congress party to introspect. Why 125-year-old is not being acceptable in any corner of India? The reason for its plight is thanks to involvement in corruption, nepotism and vote bank politics.”

He also raked up issue of delay in Narmada Dam project, ignorance of Gujaratis by Congress leadership including Sardar Patel and Morarji Desai hailing his government’s move of demonetisation.
