Man Utd star Paul Pogba faces further punishment after red card against Arsenal

PAUL POGBA expects to discover on Monday whether he faces an increased ban after his red card at Arsenal.

Pogba was sent off for stamping on Hector Bellerin in the 74th minute of Manchester United’s 3-1 win at the Emirates on Saturday.

He will miss Sunday’s Manchester derby as he starts a three-match ban for violent conduct although United are still deciding whether to appeal.

But it was the way that Pogba sarcastically applauded referee Andre Marriner’s decision which could land him in more hot water.

The FA are waiting for the referee’s report and if Marriner decides to include the incident, a disrepute charge could follow.

It was the first time Pogba had been sent off since May 2013 when he was playing for Juventus against Palermo.

The Frenchman is understood to believe Arsenal full back Bellerin got him sent off.

Pogba was shown a straight red card for a foul on Bellerin

Pogba was expecting a challenge from Bellerin but instead the Gunners defender dropped his leg in front of his opponent in a cricket-style blocking motion.

Pogba then stepped on the back of his knee but United boss Jose Mourinho defended his player afterwards.

He said: “Paul is a clean player. It was not his intention to make a foul.”
