Education sans moral values useless: CM

While presiding as chief guest over the 19th foundation day programme of the College of Engineering Roorkee (COER), the State Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat exhorted the students to give importance to such innovations which can lead to economic progress of the State. Education sans moral values becomes disastrous. Along with academic knowledge, students must also be aware of their moral duties, said Rawat. He said that the purpose of all education is to build  character at any cost and this has also been our treasured tradition and culture and the future generation must understand this vital lessons of life.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that he expected that the students must develop such a mentality that one doesn’t have to work for self only but others too. He said that the State Government was sending IAS and PCS officers to inter colleges for motivating students to take up civil services. He said every person had some or the other quality which made them distinct from others. They must enhance such qualities, he stressed.

Appreciating the hi-tech science laboratory in college, Rawat said the State of Uttarakhand must have five such laboratories where students can perform innovative works. He said that the mobile lab launched would prove beneficial for the State.

The State Minister of higher education Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State Government was stressing on 180 days academic session in educational institutions, good research, toppers in competitive examinations and from 1 January next year, coaching classes shall be started by the Government for civil services examination.
