India vs Sri Lanka Live Cricket Score, Sri Lanka in India, 3 Test Series, 2017 3rd Test, Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi 02 December, 2017

Live Now : Toss won by India (decided to bat)

10:25(IST)

1 run from the Jadeja over as the left-arm spinner has been on the money from the word go. He has bowled an accurate line, but both Chandimal and Mathews have been on the money and not given away an inch here. Sri Lanka's score reads 154/3 after 56 overs

10:23(IST)

1 run from the Ishant over as he replaces Shami at the bowling crease. Interestingly, Ishant has looked to bowl up and get wickets here and that has been a good sign for the lanky pacer as he has often been criiticised for being on the shorter side. Sri Lanka's score reads 153/3

10:17(IST)

4 runs from the Jadeja over here as Chandimal cracks a boundary to bring up the team's 150. It has been a slow but quality start for the Lankans on the third morning. Even though they have been troubled by the Indian bowlers, they have not lost a wicket and kept the initiative. Sri Lanka's score reads 152/3

10:16(IST)

MAIDEN for Shami here. The pacer has been bowling beautifully this morning and has clearly been unlucky that despite pitching them in the perfect areas, Shami has not got a wicket in reward. Both Chandimal and Mathews have struggled against his line and length.

10:10(IST)

1 run from the Jadeja over as play resumes after Chandimal gets some medical help from the physio. The Lankans have started to struggle once again on the third morning. Sri Lanka's score reads 148/3 as the visitors still trail by 388 runs with 7 wickets in the bag.

10:04(IST)

2 runs from the Shami over as he is bowling a fiery spell here. Running in and bowling his heart out, Shami is surely the star on show in the first session today. Sri Lanka's score reads 147/3 after 51 overs as Dinesh Chandimal is now feeling well and asks for the physio.

10:00(IST)

5 runs from the Jadeja over as Kohli turns to spin and pace now as he is desperate to get a wicket here. Kohli knows that batting is going to be very easy in the next two sessions and India need to make early inroads here. Sri Lanka's score reads 146/3 after 50 overs

09:55(IST)

A maiden from Shami here as Chandimal is troubled by the bouncer. Even hits the Lanka skipper on his right arm as the batsman ducked without looking at the rise of the ball. Shami has a wry smile on his face. Sri Lanka's score reads 141/3

09:50(IST)

Just one run from the Ishant over here as both him and Shami are trying their best to make an inroad early in the opening session as they realise that things will only get more difficult for the bowlers after the first session. Sri Lanka's score reads 141/3 as Mathews and Chandimal are looking good in the middle.

09:44(IST)

FIRST boundary of the day for Sri Lanka as Mathews flicks Shami down to the fine-leg boundary. That was a good shot off the hips and that is 6 runs from the over as Mathews had earlier in the over mistimed a pull and picked a double. Sri Lanka's score reads 140/3 after 47 overs as the Indian bowlers are trying to bend their back here.

09:39(IST)

2 runs from the Ishant over here as both Chandimal and Mathews pick a run each. Ishant is bowling a good line and more importantly is looking to make the batsmen play and make use of the conditions up front. Sri Lanka's score reads 134/3 after 46 overs

09:36(IST)

Jadeja starts proceedings and just 3 runs from the over and just 1 coming today as the spinner completes his over. Chandimal and Mathews will look to start afresh and not give an inch away to the Indians who will be looking for wickets here. Sri Lanka's score reads 132/3 with Chandimal on 26 and Mathews on 57.

09:26(IST)

A bit hazy and a bit of sun out in the middle on the third morning. A lot has been said about the weather with the Lankans saying that the players were left vomiting. The Indians said that Virat Kohli batted freely in those very conditions for two days. BCCI president (acting) CK Khanna said that the Lankans made a fuss out of nothing. But it is surely for the match referee and the umpires to decide whether play should happen or not. Hopefully things will get better today and we will have a full day without any interruptions. Sri Lanka's score reads 131/3, still trailing by 405 runs with 7 wickets in the bag.

09:07(IST)

A quick look back at all of Virat Kohli’s six double hundreds.
243 vs Sri Lanka in December 2017 in New Delhi
Playing on his home ground at the Ferozeshah Kotla, the pressure of expectation was supposed to weigh down on the Indian captain. He had never scored a half-century, let alone a double hundred in his city for India in the longest format of the game. All that changed as Kohli, with one eye on a testing tour to South Africa, played freely against the already demoralised Lankans. The home boy was in the groove for another big innings and he did not waste any time in enthralling the fans as he sliced through the opposition bowling with ease as India moved from strength to strength. This was Kohli’s second double century in as many matches and his sixth as captain.
213 vs Sri Lanka in November 2017 in Nagpur
Scoring big runs has become second nature to the Indian captain. Against a depleted Sri Lankan attack, there was no way Kohli would not take advantage with the bat. Scoring at brisk pace, Kohli single-handedly ensured the morale of the visitors would hit rock bottom with a batting masterclass. Angelo Matthews and company could not find a way past his bat as he set the base for India to attack on all cylinders. The Lankans who were looking for places to hide failed miserably in their attempts at stopping Kohli. India rode their captain’s brilliance and went on to equal the record for their biggest win Test cricket. Kohli on a personal note added another record to his name as he equalled Brian Lara’s record of the most double tons as captain with his fifth.
204 vs Bangladesh in February in 2017 in Hyderabad
Another Test match, another double hundred for Virat Kohli. The Bangladeshi bowlers were buried under a mountain of runs as Kohli became the first batsman to score four double centuries in as four consecutive Test series. The Indian captain completed his 200 in less than a full day of play when he played his first lofted shot of the knock. Bangladesh had taken enough and more blows from the New Delhi man and like with his other big knocks, they could not recover as India beat them by 208 runs.
235 vs England in December 2016 in Mumbai
By now, the run machine that is Virat Kohli was making records his own at will. England and Kohli had a love affair like none other. In 2014, the right hand batsman went through his worst phase when touring England. Revenge was on his mind. Kohli led from the front once again as he batted more than anyone in his team in Mumbai. The captain took the English bowlers to task and alongside that helped his teammates settle down in the middle while batting with him. Kohli scored more than the England batsmen could manage in the second innings as India romped home to a thumping win after his massive innings.
211 vs New Zealand in October 2016 in Indore
It was the third Test match of a series the visitors did not enjoy. The Indian batting led by none other than Virat Kohli was in top form and the bowlers backed them up ably. At Indore, a normally top heavy Indian batting were having a hard time till the captain stepped up. Kohli, normally a batsman who loves to score at a brisk pace was forced to take his foot of the gas and rebuild along with Ajinkya Rahane. It was an innings unlike any from Kohli as he dug in and played without any risks. Kohli would eventually go onto score 211 as India batted the Kiwis out of the match en route a series whitewash.
200 vs West Indies in July 2016 in Antigua
India began their tour of the West Indies in grand style in Antigua as they amassed a massive first innings score. Captain Kohli was fantastic touch and after the top order went through a mini-collapse, he not only steadied the ship with Shikhar Dhawan but also converted a century to a double hundred for the first time ever. With no one in the West Indies team coming close to matching up to that performance, India ran out as comfortable winners by an innings and 92 runs.

08:56(IST)

Nic Pothas: "We had players coming off the field and vomiting," he told reporters after the match. There were oxygen cylinders in the change room. It's not normal for players to suffer in that way while playing the game. I think it's the first time that everybody has come across that situation. There aren't too many rules regarding pollution. What we are going to do tomorrow is in the hands of the match referee. They will have meetings tonight to put in some sort of a precedent if it happens like this tomorrow."

08:47(IST)

Bharat Arun: "Virat batted close to two days. He did not need a mask. We are focussed on what we need to do. The conditions are the same for both teams and we are not too bothered about it. His absolute focus is one thing and attention to detail is the key. In terms of fitness and game preparation, he is spot on. He is an example of what you need to be as a cricketer. We were looking at a total of 550. It was pretty close to that. So we thought we might as well declare. Ravi's take was pretty simple. He said 'please get on with the game, you don't need to stop. You take a decision and just get on with the game. I think the umpires and the match referee have a job on hand and it's not up to the players to go and protest. They know what they are doing. When the play was unnecessarily being stopped, we just wanted to get on with the game because our focus is to win this Test match. I think pollution is everywhere in our country. This pollution levels are serious in our country. I don't think we were too worried about pollution. The BCCI scheduled this matches and our job is to get the best out of our team. Focus is more on that. They wanted to probably stress upon the pollution part and our focus was totally different. It could have broken his (Kohli) rhythm. Yes, but at that point, we had to move on and Ravi had to go into the field and tell the umpires to get on with the game."

08:22(IST)

Hello and welcome to the LIVE coverage of the third day’s action between India and Sri Lanka from the Ferozeshah Kotla. Sri Lanka reached 131/3 after India declared their first innings at 536/7 on the second day, which was marred by complaints of air pollution, during the third and final Test on Sunday. Skipper Virat Kohli hit a career-highest score of 243 as he shared a 135-run stand for the fifth wicket with Rohit Sharma (65) to power India to a big total. At the end of the second day's play, Angelo Mathews (57 batting) and Dinesh Chandimal (25 batting) were at the crease for Sri Lanka. Dilruwan Perera contributed 42 runs for the visitors. Resuming the day at the overnight total of 371/4, skipper Virat Kohli (243) continued where he left off on Saturday. Rohit, at the other end, supported him by playing some beautifully crafted shots. Right from the first ball of the morning session, Kohli and Rohit were right on target. They thrashed the Lankan bowlers at will and maintained a good run rate. The two added 129 runs between them during the session before the Mumbai batsman was dismissed off the last ball before lunch. In the process, Kohli completed his sixth double ton in 238 balls. The Delhi batsman thus joined Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in sharing the record for the most number (six) of double centuries for India in Test cricket. He also made 1000 Test runs in 2017. Kohli also broke the record of West Indies legend Brian Lara in registering scores of more than 200 six times -- most as a captain in the five-day format.

LATEST UPDATES: Angelo Mathews has been warned for running on the pitch. That is the first official warning after the batsman has been doing that quite often this morning. The haze is still very much there. Virat Kohli had won the toss and decided to field.

PREVIEW IND vs SL, DAY 3: Smog, Virat Kohli and a late counter attack from Angelo Mathews stood out as the highlight of the second day’s action between India and Sri Lanka in the third Test at the Ferozeshah Kotla in the Capital on Sunday. Not to forget the masks that came out as the Lankans tried to counter the Delhi pollution and kept complaining of the smog troubling the players. In fact, at one point the Lankans had 10 players on the field before a miffed Kohli decided to declare the India innings at 536/7 before removing two Lankan batsmen going into the tea break. But none of this unsporting tactic from the visitors can take away from the fact that Virat Kohli batted for 99 deliveries in the very conditions and was at the non-striker’s end for another 111 deliveries to bring up his sixth double century — joining Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag at the top for most double hundreds for India. He cut, pulled, drove, flicked and even converted ones into twos without bothering about the difficult aerial conditions — once again showing why fitness is such an integral part of even the gentleman’s game in the modern era. In fact, if former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar is to be trusted for his experience, it was the twin breaks in play — with Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal and his boys complaining of the weather conditions — that finally led to Kohli’s (243) dismissal against the run of play when he looked set to score 250. But Kohli and the boys came out all guns blazing and picked two wickets before the tea break as Mohammed Shami removed Dimuth Karunaratne (0) off the first ball of the innings. Dhananjaya’s (1) innings too lasted only 14 balls as the Indians dominated the show. But a counter-attack from Mathews (57*) with Dilruwan Perera (42) for company saw the visitors end the day on 131/3, still trailing by 405 with seven wickets in hand. With Shami and Ishant Sharma spewing fire literally, it was an important innings from Mathews to just wear them out and get the Lankans back in the game. While their backs are still against the wall, it makes for better viewing with skipper Chandimal unbeaten on 25 at stumps.
