Missing cash from CCB office:ACP quizzed

BENGALURU:The Assistant Commissioner of Police to whom three suspended Central Crime Branch personnel were reporting has been questioned, a senior officer said on Sunday. The constables were suspended for allegedly embezzling demonetised notes with a face value of `2 crore from the CCB strong room. The three are still absconding. The ACP who was questioned is Mariappa.

Meanwhile, Ramesh Raju, the middleman who was arrested in the case, has confessed that the suspended cops had contacted him and asked him to help them exchange the demonetised notes, police said. Raju has been remanded to police custody until Tuesday.Raju, a real estate agent from Yelahanka, was arrested on Friday.

The case has been transferred from High Grounds Police Station, and ACP (Sheshadripuram) Ravishankar is now the investigating officer.Ravishankar said the three accused - Narasimhamurthy and Gangadhar and ASI Obalegowda -  are still absconding. Three police teams have been formed to trace them, the ACP said.
