Bagha Purana (Moga): Bagha Purana police on Saturday arrested one more accused in the case of targeted killing of RSS and other Hindu outfit leaders from Shastri Nagar area of Jammu. The accused was identified as 30-year-old Jagjeet Singh, who owns a television shop in Jammu. He is suspected of having received money from another accused and passed it on for purchase of weapons.
Bagha Purana SHO Jangeet Singh said that during his questioning an accused in the case, Jimmy Singh, disclosed having given Rs 89,966 to Jagjeet. He added that the accused was arrested by police team from his shop in Jammu. Jagjeet has been booked under section 120-B of (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code for the money transaction in the FIR number 193 of 2016.
The accused was produced in the court of judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) Pushpinder Singh here on Saturday and was sent on three days of police remand. Police had sought remand stating that the accused need to be questioned about the transactions between him and Jimmy and to the further link.
Claiming that they expected big disclosure into the case, cops also submitted that they would also scan the bank transactions of Jagjeet to get more evidence against him. Police said that Jimmy had allegedly used identity card of one Varinder Singh to transfer the money into the account of Jagjeet. The money was finally received by his Jimmy's cousin Trilok Singh. Police said that the accused Trilok had then used the money for buying weapons for the targeted killings.
Officials said the cops investigating the case had last week gone to Jammu to investigate Jimmy's statement of having sent Rs 28,000 to his cousin Trilok Laddi. It was part of overall investigation to follow the money trail in the targeted killings case. They also claimed that Rs 1.80 lakh was sent through other sources by co-accused UK National Jagtar Singh Jaggi to Jimmy.
During court proceedings recently, Jimmy had said that he had sent Rs 28,000 to his cousin Trilok through Western Union for "social work at gurudwara".
