Match of the Day pundits argue after Arsenal vs Manchester United... who is right?

THE Match of the Day pundits couldn't make their mind up over Paul Pogba's red card against Arsenal.

The Match of the Day pundits argue over Paul Pogba's red card

United won 3-1 at the Emirates but they will be without Pogba for the Manchester derby next week after he was sent off in the second half.

Pogba was dismissed for what Andre Marriner considered a dangerous challenge on Hector Bellerin but the decision has split opinion.

Analysing it on Match of the Day, Shearer said: "I think it's a red card. It looks terrible when we slow it down."

But host Gary Lineker disagreed and said: "I actually think he's trying to toe the ball past, I don't know."

Arsenal legend Ian Wright then jumped in and said: "When you look at Bellerin there, it looks nasty."

Lineker put that down to the way the footage was being shown, however, and said: "Well slow motion often does."

Alan Shearer felt Paul Pogba deserved a red card

But nothing could change Shearer's mind. "I actually think it's a red card," he reasoned. "It's dangerous from the follow through and he's endangering the opponent there. He can have no complaints it's a red card."

Wright seemed not to be so sure - even though it was against his beloved Gunners.

He said: "That's unlucky for him, the momentum thing."

Shearer then asked "do you think so?" before Lineker butted in to say: "I think he's unlucky."

United boss Jose Mourinho was in doubt that the decision was wrong.

He said: "I just know that Paul is frustrated and a bit disappointed with his [France] colleague [Laurent Koscielny] for his reaction, because everyone knows Paul is a clean player and it was not his intention."
