DNCC mayoral polls by 90 days after post declared vacant

DHAKA: The polls for the mayoral post of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will be held within 90 days after the government declares the post vacant.

The new mayoral polls will be held as the incumbent DNCC mayor Annisul Huq died in a London hospital on Thursday (November 30) at the age of 65.

Acting secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Helaluddin said it to reporters on Sunday (Dec 3).

He said the Ministry of Local Government will have to issue a gazette notification at first in this regard and the polls for new DNCC mayor will be held 90 days within the declaration of the mayoral post vacancy.
