Father held for raping minor girl in Jhalawar

KOTA: The father of a sevenyear-old minor girl was arrested in Jhalawar district late Friday for allegedly raping her repeatedly for over a period.


The incident came to light when the rape survivor, whose mother died long ago, spoke about it to the staff of the anganwadi which she attended.


The accused father, Mohammed Rayees, 40, has been arrested. The victim's grandmother, who is blind, also lived with the family.


Following a medical examination of the minor, a case of rape was lodged against the accused at the Jhalwar mahila police station on Friday evening. Rayees was arrested later. The survivor is undergoing medical treatment at the government women's hospital in Jhalawar.


This is the third incident of rape involving a minor girl being reported in the last six days from Jhalawar district.
