Transcript: 'Bomb on Board' Wifi Network Forces Plane To Make Emergency Landing

Turkish Airlines flight 606 made an emergency landing Thursday, after the flight crew discovered a mobile Wi-Fi network named “Bomb on Board” The flight, which was travelling from Nairobi to Istanbul, diverted in Sudan and evacuated more than the 100 passengers before an inspection of the plane.

Turkish Airlines confirmed that the Wi-Fi network was created on board and said quote, “No irregularities were seen after security procedures were carried out.” Passengers were then allowed to reboard.

The airline did not disclose whether or not security determined which passenger might have created the network.

This isn’t the first time a suspicious hotspot has appeared on a flight.

Last year a plane out of a Melbourne was delayed from taking off for two hours after a passenger discovered a Wi-Fi Network with the name “Mobile Detonation Device”
