Stranger Things season 3 release date, plot, cast: Netflix confirms renewal
STRANGER THINGS season 3 has been confirmed by Netflix following a phenomenally successful second run earlier this year.
Netflix made the announcement on its official Twitter account, posting: “Should we make another season of Stranger Things?”
The account cheekily followed up with a second tweet: “FOR THE LOVE OF STEVE, DUH! So hold tight baby darts — season 3 is officially happening.”
News of season three has been met with a hugely positive reaction as Eleven star Millie Bobby Brown posted a photo of her character breaking down in tears.

She captioned the snap: “Yooo why you so sad? season 3 of @Stranger_Things is officially happening... that means more eggos... more kisses... and more crying.”
While Finn Wolfhard - who plays Mike Wheeler - posted a photo to his 6.6 million Instagram followers of a news story confirming the Netflix renewal, simply captioning the post: “What up!?!”
Actor Gaten Matarazzo - who stars as Dustin Henderson - re-tweeted the Netflix post as well.

Stranger Things season two dropped on Netflix back in October - just in time for Halloween weekend and proved to be just as gripping as the first run.
The action picked up in Hawkins, Indiana in 1984 and saw even weirder things happening in the small American town after the rift into the Upside Down was accidentally opened a year before.
Fans also learned that there were other children with supernatural powers, who had been experimented on at the Hawkins Laboratory.
Stranger Things has already proved to be a huge hit after it won five Emmy Awards last year and received a total of 17 nominations earlier this year.
Season three does not yet have a release date, however it looks likely that the central cast will be returning including Millie as Eleven, Finn as Mike, Gaten as Dustin, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers and Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield.
The supporting cast looks likely to include Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Chief Hopper, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler and Dacre Montgomery as Billy Hargrove.
So far plot details have not been released but in all probability the Mind Flayer will be making a comeback as it loomed in the closing shots of the second cycle.
