Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Debbie McGee breaks silence on Giovanni Pernice marriage tweet
STRICTLY COME DANCING star Debbie McGee and professional partner Giovanni Pernice have already had romance rumours swirling about them for weeks, and now she has opened up about suggestions they should tie the knot.
The former magician’s assistant, 59, spoke about comedienne Miranda Hart’s Twitter post calling for her to wed the Italian, 27.
Miranda, 44, said on the social media platform last night after Debbie’s American Smooth: “I love them all but I am fully Team @thedebbiemcgee I want her to win. I want her to marry Giovanni. And bank holidays for both occasions.”
The TV star elevated Debbie to royalty as she called for the bank holiday for the wedding and compared them to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Speaking to her co-host on her BBC Radio Berkshire programme this morning, Debbie laughed as she said: “That was hysterical. I’ve always been a fan of Miranda’s and she’s so funny. I read that very late last night and it really made me giggle.”

Along with discussing the hilarious tweet, Debbie also expressed her concerns about the costume she wore for last night’s Strictly Come Dancing routine.
She explained: “I was really worried about that because sometimes I don’t think the gimmicky things don’t work and I actually thought with that dance last night, we really needed to capture the emotions of people or it was just a very nice dance.
“I was worried that if we were in too much cat make-up, people wouldn’t relate to Debbie and Giovanni and we would be two cats which wouldn’t have the same strength.

“So I think the make-up and costume people did an amazing job because I think they got it just right. Your audience connects with you. I felt it was important that it was some of us coming through.”
Debbie also addressed why her famous pins were not on show, quipping: “Actually, if you were in the studio last night. The dress of my skirt had panels that were see-through.
“But we like to surprise you every week, so if I show them every week you’ll just get familiar and get bored of them.”
Debbie topped the leaderboard with an American Smooth to Memory from Cats and 39 points from the judges during the Strictly Come Dancing quarter final show and Musicals Week.
Praising the sensational routine, head judge Shirley Ballas told her: “Well, I think it’s going to be a memory etched in everyone’s hearts for a long, long time.
“It was just beautiful. It was intimate, it was polished, it was inwardly-feeling. I felt every moment with you.”
While fellow judge Darcey Bussell said: “It was so exquisite, finishing with that fleckle into a standing spin to a pivot and that embrace! Oh my goodness! Smooth - it was absolutely seamless.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One tonight at 7.20pm.
