JAIPUR: Agitating government doctors have extended the deadline they had issued to the state government by three more days to act on their demand.
Sources said that there are some politicians who have decided to mediate between the agitating doctors and the government to break the deadlock. Following it, the doctors have decided to postpone their agitation for three more days.
It is the second time in one month when the chances of doctors' strike have cropped up again. All Rajasthan In-Service Doctors Association (ARISDA) have requested to the government to implement the agreement made between them post doctors' agitation in November for the benefit of the patients.
"They should not take steps to supress it. Also, they should withdraw orders issued to supress us rather than implementing the agreement made between us. We have postponed our decision to intensify our protest for three more days," said Dr Ajay Chaudhary, president ARISDA.
He said that the decision of extending the deadline for three more days was taken in a meeting of core committee of ARISDA.
However, he appealed to agitating doctors to be prepared on December 7, if the government does not implement the agreement. "We will not compromise with our dignity and honour," Dr Chaudhary said.
Besides, taking strict action against doctors who allegedly boycotted a review meeting of tuberculosis held on November 29, health department has issued chargesheet to 13 doctors under 17CCA of government service rules while the department is in the process of issuing chargesheet to 18 other doctors for boycotting the review meeting.
They boycotted the meeting following the health department's orders of transferring 12 doctors including All Rajasthan In-Service Doctors Association (ARISDA).
According to health department, these doctors are marked as absent. Also, decision has been taken not to issue any travel allowance and daily allowance to them. They had gathered from different districts of the state in Jaipur on November 29, but they allegedly walked out of the meeting without participating in it.
Officials said that they are in the process of sending proposal of chargesheet to department of personnel for taking action against 18 doctors under service rules.
