Enjoy an evening of experimental jazz with a trio ensemble that will fuse Ganpati music with works of the legends
It was while studying the jazz guitar at a conservatory in France that musician Loic Sanlaville started the Luis Trio project to give voice to some of his original compositions. While it was set in jazz, the collaborations have helped his project evolve.

"Progressively, the music moved into something groovier, a kind of Hip Hop-Jazz," he explains. Sanlaville, who moved to Delhi five years ago says, his love for Hindustani sounds is also reflected in this eclectic mix. His ensemble, Luis Trio Jazz, will be bringing these experiences from his project to the city for the first time. While Sanlaville will perform on the guitar, Sonal Shori will play the electric bass, and Aditya Dutta, the drums.

"I feel the project is mature enough and the band is doing a good job. We recently worked on a new set with lots of details and surprising moments — more like trying to make Ganpati music meet jazz legend Thelonious Monk. We will also be playing some of my old compositions influenced by my travels across India," says Sanlaville. The artiste has previously lived in the city, as his wife hails from here. "I love Mumbai and the people here. You'll find music is everywhere, and everyone is into music - so it's a pleasure to play for the audience here," he adds.
