Chris Brancato to conduct masterclasses in Mumbai over next week with B-Town writers, directors
The performances by lead actors Wagner Moura and Pedro Pascal aside, the true star of Narcos is the writing by co-creator Chris Brancato. As Siddharth Roy Kapur gears up to create original content for Jio under his production house Roy Kapur Films (RKF), the producer has decided to take a cue or two from the man who has given Netflix one of its most popular shows. mid-day has learnt that Kapur has invited Brancato to Mumbai to conduct masterclasses on creating, writing and directing original series.

The Narcos creator will be holding a series of sessions from Monday. Accompanying him will be Carole Kirschner, director of the Writers Guild of America's Showrunner training programme. The workshops will be attended by a select group of writers, directors, producers and show creators from Bollywood.

Considering India is in the nascent stages of creating digital content, Brancato and Kirschner will share insights into the creative development of high quality web series.

Kapur, whose production house will deliver content for Jio Originals, says the idea behind the masterclasses is to "learn from the best in the business." "We couldn't have asked for better guides than Chris and Carole as we work towards producing world class content," shares Kapur.
