Liverpool news LIVE updates: Aubameyang wanted, Man Utd eye Goretzka, Wright Klopp claim

LIVERPOOL news is coming thick and fast and Express Sport is on hand to bring you all of the latest from Anfield.

Liverpool news LIVE updates: All of the latest from Anfield

Sunday December 3

Firmino praises Klopp influence

14:55: Roberto Firming is loving life under Jurgen Klopp.

"After he arrived everything improved a little," the Liverpool star said.

"He’s an exceptional coach who I’m honoured to work with.

"As he has a German mentality, and he also played in Germany, he has helped me tactically and physically.

"Our team has only improved in the two years since his arrival. We try to put what we learn into practice on the pitch.

"He’s been very important for me because he helps me every day in training. He helps me by talking to me, too, and I’m learning a lot from him."

Henderson on rotation

14:10: Jordan Henderson hailed Jurgen Klopp’s decision to rotate his squad after Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Brighton.

"Well it’s worked so far," he said.

"We’ve made another six changes again, everybody looks good, looks fresh.

"Of course you’re going to be disappointed when you don’t play but you’ve got to make sure you’re ready to come on or play the next game and it’s been working well for us so far so we need to keep it going."

Liverpool among ‘best in Europe’

13:00: Liverpool are one of the best teams in Europe at hitting the opposition in the break.

That’s the verdict of Match of the Day pundit Ian Wright.

"Liverpool are unbeaten in six Premier League games, winning five of them, and they are just so quick and have everything in that front three," he said.

"Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho just have so much pace and they also had Sadio Mane on the bench.

"They are one of the best counter-attacking teams I have seen in Europe.

"This was a real eye-opener for Brighton."

Klopp on Man City comparison

12:05: Jurgen Klopp has responded to comparisons between Liverpool and Pep Guardiola’s swashbuckling Manchester City side.

"In our counter moments and when we played football, I don’t know if it’s Man City we should compare to but we are a really good football team," he said.

"We know that but we need to carry on, that’s the most important thing.

"We speak here about the game which is already an hour finish. Even when I answer your questions I am much more interested in the next game, to be honest.

"It was good but it's important that it is good because we need the points, we want to be in the situation, we want to stay as close as possible to the teams in front of us.

"We can't get them immediately because obviously they win a lot of games, but we want to be in a position as close as possible.

"That's all. So we need to do it, I'm happy about that, the next game is coming and all of them are really important for us."

Liverpool target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has netted 17 goals in 19 appearances this season

Wright on Klopp celebrations

10:50: Ian Wright reckons Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will anger fellow managers when he celebrates the Reds’ attacking prowess.

"The thing with Herr Klopp when you score four or five and the fist-pumping and the gurning kind of gets to you,” said Wright on Match of the Day.

"I'm sure there are other managers who feel the same way about him.

"He's doing people's heads in."

Man Utd join Goretzka race

10:00: Liverpool will reportedly face competition from Manchester United in the battle to sign Leon Goretzka.

The Schalke midfielder is one of Germany's hottest prospects and is out of contract next summer.

And Sky Sports claim Jose Mourinho has joined Jurgen Klopp in targeting him.

Liverpool and United's interest in Goretzka is mirrored by that of Arsenal, Barcelona and Juventus.

Wijnaldum on selection shock

09:10: Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum has opened up on being picked to play in defence against Brighton.

"We were training a day before the game, [Klopp] didn't tell me, he just picked the team and he told me I was at the back," said the Dutchman.

"He picked the first XI and told I me I was at the back. Normally I am a player who can play in different positions, but never in defence.

"The manager was running out of options and he picked me and Emre.

"It was really hard in the first because I didn't know what to do every time."

Coutinho causing Barcelona problems

08:00: Barcelona’s interest in signing Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is apparently not going down well with everyone at the Nou Camp.

The La Liga giants were desperate to get the Brazilian on-board in the summer but saw three hefty bids knocked back.

They’re likely to return for Coutinho when the transfer window opens and are said to have prepared a £12m-a-year contract for him.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claim that prospective salary has put a few noses out of joint - including that of Sergi Roberto.

It’s claimed the Barcelona youth product could walk away from talks over a new deal and join Manchester United.

Salah to Real claim

07:15: Egypt boss Hector Cuper claims Real Madrid ARE interested in signing Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

The winger has enjoyed a staggering start to life at Anfield and turned plenty of heads in the process.

And Cuper has now suggested top dogs at Real are among those to have taken notice of Salah’s performances.

"I have been told in confidence that Real Madrid are interested in Salah, but we aren't going to get worked up about it," Cuper told On Sports TV.

"For me, it is an incredible situation at this point in time."

Aubameyang EXCLUSIVE

06:30: Liverpool are ready to battle it out with Chelsea for Borussia Dortmund ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international is one of the world's deadliest forwards and has already bagged 17 times this season.

But he's set to leave Dortmund in the new year following a series of disciplinary issues.

Chelsea are interested in adding Aubameyang to their frontline ranks as they seek to overhaul Manchester City.

Express Sport can exclusively reveal Jurgen Klopp is keen on stealing the hitman from under Antonio Conte's nose though.
