Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma on Saturday said the Budha Pahad area in Garhwa, Palamu and Latehar districts of the State was witnessing the final and decisive battle against Maoists. She said that the Government wants to be aware of everything that needs to be dine as help to the civil administration and security forces in the fight.
Verma alongwith DGP D K Pandey, ADG (Operations) RK Mallik, Principal Secretary, Home, SKG Rahte today reached Naxal affected area Barakol picket under Bhandariya Police Station in Garhwa and took stock of the Budha Pahad operation against the Maoists.
After holding a high level review meeting the CS said that the State government has the resolution that Jharkhand should be free from extremism by December 2018. And, the brave soldiers of State police alongwith CRPF are working day and night to achieve the goal.
Verma said the major problem felt here was construction of roads. Roads need to be constructed primarily and police pickets should be also be set up. Land has already been marked for police picket. She assured that the people of Amwar Village under Dhurki police station will get compensation for their land as soon as possible through the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner.
Talking about Saruat hill, she said that the government needs to make an action plan and Secretary of tourism will be sent at the site for the purpose. The tourism site status will be given to Saruat Hill.
She said that the villages that have a population of 100 to 250 for the construction of a paved road there, the government has prepared a project of Rs 8,000 crore. Their approval process is going on. No village or Tola will remain without roads and electricity.
DGP DK Pandey said that the government has already announced a reward of Rs one crore on the head of Maoist Arvind and Sudhakar Reddy and Rs 25 lakh on his wife Maoist Nilima. “We appeal to Arvind ji that he should leave the forest and surrender and join the mainstream. The present surrender policy is very good. Police will not shoot surrendered persons. It has never happened. The state Government has created such a policy that the Naxalites will leave the forest. It will be done,” Pandey said.
On the occasion, Garhwa Deputy Commissioner Neha Arora distributed 50 blankets among the poor, who reached Barakol Picket. She also listened to problems of the villagers, demanding electricity road pension etc and assured them the benefits.
Commissioner Palamu Rajiv Arun Ekka, SP, Garhwa, M. Arshi , DDC Faiz Aq Ahmad Mumtaz, CRPF Commandant SN Mishra, Second Commanding Officer PN Ghosh, Ranka Subdivision Officer Javed Anwar Idrisi, Sub Divisional Police Officer Vijay Kumar, DSE Brijmohan Kumar and others officials were present in the meeting.
