Faridkot: A large number of students, their parents and teachers on Thursday held protest outside the office of the Faridkot senior superintendent of police (SSP) against the chairman of a society running Adarsh schools at Pakka and Midduman villages in the district.
Two Adarsh schools are being run under the public private partnership (PPP) model. In 2016, the Punjab government had entered into partnership with Sukhsagar Avenue Welfare Society to run the affairs of both the schools.
Parents and teachers demanded that the state government should withdraw the partnership with the society as its chairman Narinder Singh Randhawa was victimizing teachers and students.
A case under sexual harassment of some teachers as well as child labour had been registered against Randhawa on February 15 and he had remained in jail for over a month.
When contacted, Randhawa refuted the charges. He said he was being defamed by certain vested interests without reason and the society was running the affairs of both schools in a transparent manner.
