Don’t fancy cooking Christmas dinner this year, with the stress of decorating the house and making all the food? 

You’re in good company – in a recent survey by Barclaycard, almost half of Brits said they would consider eating out on Christmas day to save the hassle.

A further 64 per cent said they would do this do avoid washing up (64 per cent), and to dodge the kitchen heat (63 per cent). 

OpenTable have also reported a 43 per cent increase in Britons booking restaurant meals for Christmas Day.

This luxurious seven course lunch at The Alverton country town hotel features smoked salmon parcels with beetroot glaze, mulled wine sorbet and of course roast turkey. 

The Grand Hotel & Spa, York – £85 per adult, £39 per child

This is a traditional three course roast – including Thirkleby turkey, winter vegetables and chocolate and mulled figs – served in Yorkshire’s this Edwardian heritage five star hotel. 

London Marriott Hotel Country Hall, £80 a head (under 12s eat for free)

The Christmas day menu at Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar, based in the Marriott hotel, includes a slow-roasted turkey main course.

It is served family style to share, along with plates of goose dripping roast potatoes and glazed vegetables. 

Bokan, London – £75 per head

Swap festive lunch for festive brunch at this 39 storey high location. The three course comes with unlimited prosecco, house wine, beer or soft drinks.

Jurys Inn, Oxford – £65 per adult, £32 per child

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, based at Jurys Inn hotel, will be offering a five course Christmas lunch.

The menu includes beetroot salmon gravadlax, roast turkey with festive trimmings, and Baileys cream filled profiteroles. 

Legacy Rose & Crown, Salisbury – £69.96 per adult, £36.50 per child under 12

Starting with a glass of fizz, this three course meal has the best selection of options: choose from parsnip soup, tiger prawns, duck and goats cheese tart for starters.

While for mains, everything from roast turkey to portobello mushroom wellington are on offer.
