ROUGH CUT. NO REPORTER NARRATION North Koreans gathered in Pyongyang on Friday (December 1) to celebrate the "successful" launch of the country's new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). Video provided by the North's state news agency KCNA, which could not be independently verified by Reuters, showed thousands of North Korean residents and soldiers along with high-ranking government officials gathered at Kim Il Sung square near Taedong River to attend a mass rally and to watch a fireworks display. North Korea said it successfully tested a powerful new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Wednesday (November 29) that put the entire U.S. mainland within range of its nuclear weapons. The North added the new missile reached an altitude of around 4,475 km (2,780 miles) - more than 10 times the height of the International Space Station - and flew 950 km (590 miles) during its 53-minute flight.
