Hubballi/Belagavi: Thousands of people from the Muslim community took part in the Eid Milad processions taken out in Hubballi-Dharwad and Belagavi on Saturday. Celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar, Eid Milad commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad.
In Hubballi, the main procession was taken out from Badi Masjid at Ganeshpet. It was led by Mutavalli Abdul Hamid Khairati. Apart from the leaders of the Muslim community, a few Hindu leaders also took part in the procession. Altaf Nagar Muslim Panch Committee and Young Committee took out a procession under the leadership of corporator Altaf Kittur.
In Dharwad, Anjuman-e-Islam president, Ismail Tamatgar and corporator Deepak Chinchore distributed fruits and clothes among inpatients of the District Hospital. Hundreds joined the procession followed by prayers at various mosques.
In Belagavi, local MLA Firoz Sait flagged off a colourful procession at Fort Road. The procession concluded at Asadkhan Dargah before passing through the bus station, RTO Circle, Court Circle, Channamma Circle, Bogarves and Camp.
Thousands participated in the procession. Adding to the artistic tableaux, youths and children grabbed the attention with their attire. Several stalls were installed along the procession route to serve juice, water, ice cream and sweets to the participants.
A huge Eid Milad procession, carrying several tableaux, was carried out through the main streets of Bagalkot city. It started at the Anjuman campus and concluded at Pankha Masjid. District Wakf president Mainuddeen Nabiwale, BTDA chairman A D Mokashi, G M Tarafadar and Ayyub Bagewadi took part in the procession.
In Davanagere, Eid Milad was celebrated with fervor. A huge procession was taken out in the city. Children wore colourful dresses on the occasion.
