Cape Town - Everton fans will be pleased to see their side claim a relatively straight-forward 2-0 win over Huddersfield at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

Everton fans will be hoping it was the nerves of playing under a new manager or the players still getting accustomed to the changes, but the hosts were exceedingly poor in the first half.

It was a scrappy affair and neither midfield was able to build any kind of momentum. Luckily for the home side, their visitors were equally as poor in a half that produced more yellow cards than shots on target.

Thankfully it wasn't long after half-time that Everton showed a shining glimpse of their potential. The move was started by Aaron Lennon and capped off by a genius little pass from Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Gylfi  Sigurdsson to side foot the ball into the back of the net in the 47th minute.

The Toffees almost doubled their lead nine minutes later when Wayne Rooney played Calvert-Lewin in, but he was thwarted by a smart save from Jonas Lossl.

However, they found what they were looking for with around 15 minutes left on the clock when Rooney and Calvert-Lewin combined once again to see the later's shot deflect off Zanka and into the net.

Everton fans may not be especially pleased with the performance of their side but they will undoubtedly be delighted by the result and Allardyce could provide the turning point to their season that they have been waiting for.
