The first ever Senate meeting of the 8-year-old Nilamber Pitamber university is slated for December 23 and the venue is NIC in Betla which is of tiger reserve Palamu.
Giving this information VC S N Singh said, “We have sent a written request to CCF cum field director PTR M P Singh to give the university building and premise of NIC in Betla for our Senate meeting there on December 23. We have sought co operation from the CCF also.”
NIC (Nature Interpretation Centre) has a capacity for 110 people. It is spacious and well lit also. Its rent is very nominal said M P Singh adding further the university has a choice to use indoor and outdoor space of this NIC in Betla.
Singh said, “The university had sent in three venues to Raj Bhavan, which included this NIC too. Once we got a go ahead from Raj Bhavan to convene this highest body meeting we opted for this NIC Betla for many reasons.”
VC said the venue falls in Latehar district and is barely 27 Kms away from Daltonganj and the whole of Latehar district and Betla come under the territorial jurisdiction of this university and hence this reach out of us there for our meeting.
Singh said the university has been geared up to hold this meeting.
Sources said the university is making do right now with the adhoc registrar and is looking forward to JPSC recommendation for the post of registrar for this university for which the JPSC Ranchi has already done the interview.
Sources said this new incumbent S N Singh who is yet to complete his 300 days in the university has to his credit the successful programme of inter university male and female free style wrestling championship wherein Hon’ble Chancellor cum Governor Droupadi Murmu graced the tournament .
Sources said this man of physics Singh has now taken upon to hold this maiden meeting of Senate which was in pendency over the last eight years.
Asked as to why he is so burning his fingers in such works which his predecessors had thoughtfully put on the back seat of the university S N Singh said ‘ A university is to conduct its Senate meet. And this is being done’. He refused to make any further comment.
There are 91 senators and much depends upon how many of them take pains to reach Betla for this meet.
A core committee has been set up with Dr B Singh pro VC as its chairman to conduct this meet.
