Vadodara: Three minor boys were abused and thrashed allegedly by BJP workers at Laxmipura village, which comes under Dabhoi constituency, when they went to campaign in their neighbourhood on Friday night. Their complaint was not registered at Vadodara Taluka police station till late night on Saturday.

Residents of Indiranagar in Laxmipura village said that BJP workers had come to their neighbourhood to put up BJP flags and other literature materials on their walls on Friday evening. When the residents asked the workers to leave, the situation became tensed but the BJP workers left after arguments.

A few hours later, when three boys Dilip Vasava, Maahil Vasava and Vijay Mali were sitting around a bonfire outside their houses, the BJP workers came again and got into arguments with them. Locals alleged that the BJP workers then thrashed Dilip and punched him after tearing his shirt. They also allegedly abused at the trio on the basis of their caste. When Maahil and Mali asked the BJP workers to leave, they allegedly slapped the duo and tore their clothes as well.

When the adults of the neighbourhood came out of their houses hearing noises, BJP workers told them that they thrashed the trio since they did not allow them to put up the election literature on the walls. The residents of Indiranagar then went to Vadodara Taluka police station to lodge a complaint. While the police did not immediately register the FIR, the police station officer wrote to the doctors of Jamnabai Hospital to treat the injured boys.

The complainants alleged that the police did not register the complaint and therefore went to the superintendent of police's (SP) office on Saturday afternoon. Later when the deputy SP intervened, cops called them to register the complaint, but until late Saturday night the plaint was not registered.
