With the Winter Session of the State Assembly slated in Bharadisain near Gairsain drawing near, the Chamoli district administration is now busy making arrangements for its smooth conduct. Notably, this would be the first session outside Dehradun after the Trivendra Singh Rawat-helmed BJP Government came to power in the State.
Gearing up for the upcoming session which is likely to see fireworks from the Opposition and passage of some important bills, Chamoli District Magistrate Ashish Joshi held a meeting with the district officers of various departments at the Collectorate and directed them to complete their assigned works much ahead of the start of the session from December 7. He stressed that things must be completed by December 5.
DM further said that the department officers must see to it that residential facilities are provided to the ministers, lawmakers and the senior administrative officers during the session.
Besides, the same facilities should be provided for the police personnel, home guards and PRD jawans to be deputed for the session, he said, adding that the works of erecting barricades should be completed by December 5 to bolster security for the session.
He said that Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN) and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) officers have been directed to make arrangements of food for VVIPs, VIPs, MLAs, media representatives and staffers during the session.
The police officers have been directed to make fool-proof security arrangements with stress laid on fire safety measures. Fire tenders must be kept ready for any emergency while CCTV cameras must be installed in and around the Assembly premises. Besides, loud hailers should be arranged too, DM said.
DM further said that chief medical officers have been directed to depute doctors and keep stock of medicines at Bharadisain. Medical facilities at CHC Gairsain should be strengthened, he added. Municipal Corporation Gairsain officers have been asked to ensure hygiene and cleanliness of the Vidhan Sabha premises. This aside, mobile toilets must be set up at Vidhan Sabha campus and some other identified places, he said.
DM said that the classes in the schools located in the area must not be allowed to be disrupted in view of the session.
The transport department must make arrangements of vehicles while the food and civil supply department must keep adequate stock of fuel and gas cylinders. BSNL, power and peyjal officers have been asked to ensure uninterrupted services during the session.
