Surat: Seven dacoits were booked at Sarthana police station on Friday for carrying out a dacoity at a residence near Pasodara on the outskirts of the city. The robbers injured three persons who were present in the house and escaped with valuables worth Rs 66,500 in the early hours of Friday.
Police booked the gang of robbers for targeting the residence of complainant and farm labourer Sanjay Solanki (22). Faces of the robbers were covered when they arrived at Solanki's house on the stretch between Pasodara and Laskana villages at around 11.30 pm on Thursday. They forcefully entered the residence armed with axes and other weapons.
They looted jewellery, cash and three mobile phones worth Rs 66,500. The robbers injured Solanki's parents and brother by hitting axe on their bodies. They were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Police are working to identify the robbers involved in the dacoity. They are questioning locals to find out if they had noticed any outsider in the area.
"No arrests have been made in the dacoity. We are investigating it from different various angles," the police said.
