Chandigarh: For the first time since the inception of Haryana in 1966, the state has logged an all-time high in paddy arrivals and procurement up to November 30. Figures for both exceed those ever recorded during any procurement season in the history of the state. Paddy procurement season ends on December 15, 2017.
The state procurement agencies procured more than 58.96 lakh tonne of paddy up to November 30, 2017 against 53.47 lakh tonne mopped up last year, which was also an all-time high. Similarly, over 70.24 lakh tonne of paddy arrived in the state mandis against 69.56 lakh tonne during the entire season last year, which also the highest ever.
Stating this here on Friday, the Haryana minister of state for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs Karan Dev Kamboj said out of the total arrival, over 11.27 lakh tonne of paddy was procured by the millers this year. "State procurement agencies have also set a record by delivering more than 6.7 lakh tonne of rice to the FCI against 4.5 lakh tonne last season. More than 27.36 lakh tonne of paddy has been purchased by the food, civil supplies and consumer affairs department, over 19.22 lakh tonne by HAFED, over 6.49 lakh tonne by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation, over 5.68 lakh tonne by the Haryana Agro Industries Corporation and 19,667 tonne by the FCI," said Kamboj.
Giving details of the arrival of paddy in the mandis of Haryana, maximum quantity arrived in Karnal (14.47 lakh tonne) followed by Kurukshetra (12.12 lakh tonne). Over 9.06 lakh tonne of paddy arrived in the mandis of Kaithal, 8.22 lakh tonne in Fatehabad, 7.91 lakh tonne in Ambala, 6.04 lakh tonne in Yamunanagar, 4.4 lakh tonne in Jind, 2.32 lakh tonne in Sirsa, 1.34 lakh tonne in Hisar, 1.30 lakh tonne each in Panipat and Panchkula, 79,470 tonne in Palwal, 50,650 tonne in Rohtak, 37,185 tonne in Jhajjar and 2,459 tonne in Gurugram.
