For the first time ever in an Ashes Test, the action will be played with a pink ball and under floodlights as the advent of day-night Test cricket takes another step forward.

Australia are expected to entrust Mitchell Starc with the responsibility of rattling through the England batting order.

The left-arm quick picked up six wickets at Brisbane but is expected to be even more effective with the pink cherry under the lights.

England meanwhile will be hoping to improve on a 10-wicket defeat where no batsman was able to make a hundred while Australia captain Steve Smith led the way with an unbeaten 141.

The second Test will, unusually, get underway on a Saturday.

Play is scheduled on December 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
