Officials say the white male was confronted by a security guard inside, but no shots were fired.

megan danny freeman from our sister station in bakersfield joins us live. he's been on the scene since shots rang out just before 5 pm this evening. danny, what do we know? at about a quarter to five this danny, what do we know? at about a quarter to five this afternoon, police say an adult white male with a handgun and an assault rifle opened fire on the rear doors of the hospital. the man then entered the hospital for a period of time, frightening but not shooting or injuring witnesses we spoke to. he then exited where he was shot by police. [a27]bako hospital-vo the suspect, who police are not identifying at this time, was shot by two officers within minutes of police confronting him. bakersfield heart hospital treated the suspect's initial wounds, and the suspect is in stable condition after being transported to another hospital. police say the man did not shoot inside the hospital, and when asked if the man shot at officers, bakersfield assistant police chief greg terry said assistant police chief greg terry said "not that he knew of." [a28]bako hospital-sotvo 22:02:54 upon officers arrival, the suspect, a white male adult was contacted outside the hospital, to the rear, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. 22:03:11 the heart hospital was placed on lockdown, and a search of the entire premises was done, there are no additional suspects, or, there were no additional suspects located, and there are no additional suspects being sought at this time 25 michelle oxford, ceo of bakersfield heart hospital, praised a housekeeper, ashley for alerting the hospital of the armed man. witnesses we spoke with said active shooter drills prepared hospital staff, and no employees, patients, or family members were injured. bakersfield police, kern county sheriff, california highway patrol and the fbi all responded to the scene. the fbi said terrorism does not appear to be at play here. live from bakersfield heart hospital, danny freeman, megan: let's get a look at the weather.
