Lucknow: The results the Uttar Pradesh local body polls will be declared on Friday. According to the early trends, popping up after the counting of votes began at 0800 hours, the Bharatiya Janata Party is leading the scoreboard with 12 seats in its kitty while Bahujan Samaj Party leads on 3 and Congress on 1.

These polls are seen as the first real test of the Yogi Adityanath government in the state, who led the BJP’s campaign carrying out 40 elections rallies across the state during the elections.

The polls were conducted in three phases on November 22, 26 and 29.

  • Counting has been delayed in Farrukhabad and Fatehabad as officials are yet to report for duty.
  • The counting has not yet begun in Deoria too due to the alleged unpreparedness of the authorities.
  • The Samajwadi Party is now leading in Varanasi mayoral seat and Ferozabad.
  • The BSP is leading in Saharanpur.
