Shiv’s mantra

New editions of Shiv Khera’s bestsellers, You Can Win andYou Can Sell, were launched in Delhi on January 10. They will soon be followed by the re-launch of Living with Honour and Freedom is Not Free. The event was organised by the Peace Harmony Development Chamber, Delhi, and  Bloomsbury India, which will henceforth publish all of Khera’s books. Speaking on the occasion, Khera, a motivational speaker, addressed the audiences with his quintessential traits and humorous puns: “When one says, ‘I can’t do this’, it implies two possibilties, either you don’t know how to do it, or you don’t want to do it. The first is an educational issue which exhibits lack of training and expertise, whereas the other is an attitudinal issue that demonstrates a lack of zeal. Problems do not spare anyone but then success is all about overcoming failures.”

Citing Mohammad Ali’s quote, Khera mentioned that success comprises of two entities: Skill and will. One without the other would be a hollow and fruitless pursuit. “Some people break challenges whereas under identical circumstances, some would break themselves. Michael Phelps is infamous for being such a celebrated Olympian but many do not know that he had fractured his hand 10 months before the 2008 Olympics. It was with sheer determination and zealous hard work that he continued to make wonders.”

Khera also emphasised upon the universality of values; they are cross-cultural, cross-religion, and eternal. He continued, “They were here before us, they will be here after us. Truths are special, and short. Like the Gettysburg speech delivered by Lincoln, and was reportedly written on a napkin! When Britain stood in opposition to Hitler all alone, it was one man, Winston Churchill, who single-handedly inspired British resistance and changed the state of affairs. That, right there is leadership.”
