Maldivian tourism to promote itself vigorously in 2018 as Chinese arrivals decline

(MENAFN - NewsIn.Asia) Male, November 30 (newsin.asia): The Maldives will be participating in seven out of 15 international tourism trade fairs in 2018 to boost its tourist industry which is flagging because of a fall in Chinese arrivals in the past four years.

The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) says that it will participate in the FITUR international fair in Spain from January 17 to 21. MMPRC will participate in two fairs at China. Five of the seven fairs will be exclusive for corporate businesses.

Although China is one of the main tourist markets for the Maldives, visitors from that country have declined in the last four years. China sent 265,417 visitors so far this year, but last year, 289,123 had arrived in the same time period.

There has been an 8.2% decrease in Chinese arrivals, which has necessitated vigorous promotion in the coming year.
