Dhaka, Phnom Penh to sign 11 deals

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali has said Dhaka will sign 11 deals with Phnom Penh on civil aviation, ICT, fisheries, agriculture, trade and investment sectors during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 3-day Cambodia visit beginning December 3.
Prior to the PM's visit to Cambodia, the Foreign Ministry apprised the media on Thursday saying that the Premier will pay the official visit at the invitation of her Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen, "this visit would contribute immensely to expanding cooperation in food, agriculture, fisheries, tourism and ICT...this would also add a new dimension to the existing bilateral ties between the two countries," Ali said.
"Prime Minister will also call on King of Cambodia Norodom Sihamoni, Senate President and President of National Assembly besides joining a business dialogue as the chief guest. She will lay wreaths at the Independence Monument and the grave of late King of Cambodia Norodom Sinhanouk," he said.

Minister Rashed Khan Menon, State Minister for ICT and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, Principal Coordinator of SDG and Executive Director of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) will accompany the premier during her visit.
During the visit, the foreign minister said the two countries will name two important roads in their respective countries after the father of the nation of both the countries.
Dhaka hopes the visit would help strengthen bilateral cooperation in the important sectors between the two Asian nations. Ali told reporters that the prime minister would hold bilateral talks with her Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen focusing on trade and investment and cooperation in various sectors, he added.
He said it has been decided to name "Baridhara Park Road" in the city's diplomatic zone after Late King Norodom Sihanouk and a road in Phnom Penh after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Besides, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her entourage members will join a dinner to be hosted by Prime Minister Hun Sen on December 4.
"The 11 deals or instruments which are expected to be signed between the two countries are: Civil Aviation flight operation deal, agreement relating to formation of Joint Trade Council, cooperation agreement to implement SDGs by 2030, MoU relating to labour and vocational education, cooperation deal in tourism sector and preservation of history of liberation war and monument, MoU in fisheries and aquaculture, MoU in expansion of investment, cooperation agreement between the trade bodies of the two countries and expanding academic ties between Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and Royal Academy (RAC) of Cambodia," the Foreign Minister said.
The Prime Minister will also be accompanied by a Buddhist delegation and a business delegation.
