The Man Who Invented Christmas: WATCH Dan Stevens in exclusive clip from new festive movie
THE MAN WHO INVENTED CHRISTMAS is a new festive drama with Dan stevens and Christopher Plummer, out today.
Based on the book of the same name by Les Standiford, its cast also boasts Miriam Margolyes, Simon Callow and Jonathan Pryce.
Stevens stars as Charles Dickens in a true story set two years after the success of Oliver Twist - when the writer’s last three books have failed to sell and he starts work on A Christmas Carol.
Direction comes from Bharat Nalluri, and the movie hits cinemas nationwide today.

Reviews for The Man Who Invented Christmas have been positive, with an impressive 81% score accrued on Rotten Tomatoes.
The site’s consensus reads: “The Man Who Invented Christmas adds holiday magic to the writing of A Christmas Carol, putting a sweetly revisionist spin on the story behind a classic yuletide tale.”
Stevens has had a great year: he of course played the Beast in the Disney live-action spin on Beauty and the Beast, released in the spring.
That movie, also starring Emma Watson and Luke Evans, became the highest-grossing live-action musical film - and it is currently still the highest-grossing film of 2017, on $1.26 billion worldwide.

That number puts it just a hairline above The Fate of the Furious, on $1.24 billion.
Author Standiford, meanwhile, is also known for the John Deal Miami crime novels and historical narrative non-fiction such as this.
