Amritsar: The police have claimed a major breakthrough in the murder of Hindu leader Vipin Sharma with the arrest of two persons, Vishal Sharma and Kunwarbir Singh, and recovery of the motorcycle used in the incident.
Talking to media persons here on Thursday, Amritsar police commissioner S S Srivastava said both Vishal and Kunwarbir were arrested on Wednesday.
Vishal, a resident of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar arrested near Chatiwind Gate, had confessed that he along with Shubam, Saraj Mintu and Gifti, were involved in the murder of Vipin Sharma on October 30, added the commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations) Jagmohan Singh said upon interrogation Vishal revealed that the four of them rode on two motorcycles with him riding one and Gifty riding the other. Pillion riders Saraj Mintu and Shubam got down from the motorcycles and went on to kill Sharma, as they kept the engines running to flee soon afterwards.
Kunwarbir, resident of Ganda Singh Colony, transported all four of them out of Punjab and gave them financial help, he said.
