DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq.
In a condolence message, the premier recalled the contributions of Annisul to the development of DNCC.
"He will be ever remembered for his extraordinary work," she said.
The nation has lost a dedicated and popular public representative in his death, she added.
Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Annisul breathed his last at Wellington Hospital in London while undergoing treatment, at 10:23pm Bangladesh time. He was 65.
He was diagnosed with cerebral vasculitis, swelling of the blood vessel wall involving the brain and occasionally the spinal cord.
