Suspected terrorist contact man Akhtar Hussain Khan of Cuttack district, who had been quizzed on Wednesday by a team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), was on Thursday issued a notice under Section 160 of CrPC to appear before an NIA SP in New Delhi on December 4.
The 48-year-old Hussain, who had stayed in Dubai and South Arabia for over a decade, has been roped in as a witness in connection with an NIA case of November 27 pertaining to the arrest of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist from Lucknow.
The NIA notice issued by NIA SP Shantanu Sinha of Kolkata has asked Hussain to appear before NIA SP Ajit Singh for answering certain questions relating to the November 27 case.
Hussain had been taken into custody by a six-member NIA team on Wednesday from his rented house on the outskirts of the city. After being interrogated for over six hours, he was released in the evening.
The NIA team has reportedly gathered some incriminating documents from his house and seized his cell phone, which allegedly contained some dubious numbers saved in the phonebook.
