CHRISTMAS means a slew of festive favourites are being dug out of the DVD cupboards - including Home Alone.

The 1990 gem has been subject to many bizarre fan theories, including one that suggests links Kevin with the Saw trilogy.
But what of this one, posted to Reddit earlier today?
User thetruthissomewhere reckons Old Man Marley - when he’s seen with his family at the end of the episode - is actually dead, and appearing to Kevin spiritually.
They explained: “Okay, so the old man character who Kevin is scared of... remember that scene when Kevin is in the convenience store asking questions about the toothbrush, and Old Man Marley comes into the store buying band-aids, he puts his hand on the counter.

“The camera focuses on said hand. It's wrapped in a handkerchief and bloody.
“I believe when Kevin encounters him in the church on Christmas Eve, he has a band-aid on his hand (not confirmed, though, I watched the scene and couldn't tell).
“However, at the end of the movie, when Kevin's family is home and he peeks out the window to see Old Man Marley greeting his son and granddaughter, while hugging his granddaughter OMM waves at Kevin, and there is no bandage on either hand.
“This makes me believe that OMM died at some point after saving Kevin from Marv and Harry.”

The theory was met with skepticism by some, with someone suggesting it was nothing more than a plot-hole.
Another theory, published last year, suggested instead that the mended hand was more of a metaphor about old wounds being able to heal.
Roberts Blossom played Old Man Marley in the film. He died in July 2011.
