Agra Nagar Nigam result LIVE UPDATES: BJP's Naveen Jain wins race for mayor's post

The BJP's Naveen Jain won the race for the mayor's post in Agra, by 15,000 votes. 

Counting began early Friday morning after local body elections were held in three phases in Uttar Pradesh. The polls are seen as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's first major electoral test.

The Agra Nagar Nigam serves 1.68 lakh people, its website says (based on figures from 2010).

  • BJP's Naveen Jain has won the race for the mayor's post by 15,000 votes.
  • After the second round of counting, BSP's Digamber Singh Dhakrey leads by 23786 votes.
  • After the first round, the BSP led by 11,416 votes.
  • As of 9:30 am, BJP's Patyashi Naveen Jain was leading by 110 votes.  Digamber Singh Dhakrey was second.
  • BSP's Digambar Singh Dhakre is leading.
  • Counting of votes has begun
