Thieves on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday broke into the State Bank of India Mandhar branch, under Vidhan Sabha police station area, and decamped with cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees, police said.
The branch is situated in the rural area on the outskirts of capital.
According to information from In-charge of Station House Officer, Vidhan Sabha Police Station the thieves around four to six in numbers cut the lockers with gas cutting machine and took out cash and valuables.
The incident happened in the SBI branch of Mandhar situated in Baraunda near Ring Road no-3.
Police sources informed that at first the lock of the main shutter was broken and thereafter the thieves cut the cable connection of the Close Circuit cameras. Then they thoroughly searched the bank and with the help of gas cutter brought by them cut 27 lockers including that of cash deposits.
Meanwhile after getting the information on Monday morning the police reached the spot along with dog squad and forensic experts and was investigating the matter. Senior police officials also reached the bank to investigate into the matter.
