(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- 1958 -- The first edition of "Al-Arabi" magazine was issued, with Dr. Ahmad Zaki becoming its first editor-in-chief. Al-Arabi is a monthly cultural magazine issued by the Ministry of Information with a circulation of approximately 300, 000 editions to all Arab countries.
1959 -- Private schools and educational institutions and their licensing were placed under the supervision of the Department of Learning.
1960 -- The first edition of the magazine "Tabeeb Al-Mujtama" (Society's Doctor) was published by the Department of General Health.
1986 -- Kuwaiti Society for Specialized Studies and Research was established.
1995 -- The first edition of the weekly magazine "Qurtas" was issued. It was the first Kuwaiti magazine specialized in issues concerning literature and publications.
1999 -- National Mobile Telecommunication Company (Wataniya) was established to provide mobile services for customers in Kuwait.
2004 -- President of Benin Matthew Kerekou granted Chairman of Kuwait's Direct Aid Society Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sumait the republic's Medal of Honor and named him a knight in appreciation for social and charitable efforts for the people of the African country.
2007 - Kuwait's Engineers Society won the prize of creativity of firms at the 11th Gulf engineering firm in Muscat for the national project to conserve water and electricity.
2007 -- Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) assigned Kuwait's representative Abbas Naqi as its secretary general for three years.
2010 -- An international donors' conference for eastern Sudan opened in Kuwait with the participation of 39 nations, 28 global organizations, and 73 NGOs. Kuwait donated a sum of USD 500 million to help build infrastructure in Sudan.
2013 -- Kuwait donated USD 500,000 to help fund relief aid efforts in Republic of Madagascar, which was hit by hurricane. (end) mb
