Thieves cut open an ATM, make off with 30 lac rupees in Mundgod

Karwar: Thieves made away with Rs. 30 lacs from an ATM belonging to State Bank of India located at Ganger complex near Yellapur-Bankapur road in Mundgod, Uttara district on early Thursday morning.

Sources said that the incident took place around 3 am. It was learnt that a group of three thieves, broke the ATM machine with the help of Gas welding cutter and fled away with the booty.

On receiving the tip-off, Mundgod PSI Kirankumar Naik rushed to the spot and watched the CCTV footage, in which it was seen that one thief was wearing mask, while another wasn't wearing it. And the third person was sitting in a car. With the help of footage, it was estimated that the entire act was completed within a span of 30 minutes.

Further investigations are being carried on.
