Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy asks industries to employ HIV/AIDS persons

PUDUCHERRY: Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today asked major industries and commercial establishments in the union territory to provide job opportunities to HIV/AIDS affected persons so that they take active part in the society without facing discrimination.    

In his message on the occasion of World AIDS Day, he said due to strenuous efforts the Puducherry AIDS Control Society (PACS) took, the Central government had declared Puducherry as a UT with low prevalence of HIV or AIDS.    

He said Puducherry government was providing a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,500 to children and adults suffering from HIV or AIDS.    

Major industries and commercial establishments should come forward to provide jobs to the HIV or AIDS affected persons so that they can take active part in the society without facing discrimination, he said.
