To ensure that the anganwadi centres in the State have its own buildings, the Haryana Government has decided to construct 375 anganwadi centres in 19 districts.
These anganwadi centres would be constructed during the current financial year at a cost of Rs 18.56 crore, said Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain.
She said that it was for the first time when the services of semi-skilled and skilled workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) Scheme would be taken for the construction of these centres.
These anganwadi centres would be got constructed through the Zila Parishads. Earlier, these were being constructed by Development and Panchayats Department, Jain said.
She said that while Rs five lakh under MGNREGA would be spent on the construction of each anganwadi centre, the central and state governments share would be Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 80,000 respectively. Persistent efforts are being made by the State Government for providing all facilities in the anganwadi centres, she added.
