The Cameroonian-French destroyer – nicknamed The Predator – faces the toughest task of his career to date this weekend, taking on former champ Alistair Overeem.
Three successive first-round finishes have elevated the 31-year-old into contention for a shot at the title.
But he will need to go through 37-year-old Overeem to get there – no small order given the Dutchman’s impressive pedigree.

His chances will be done no harm armed with the impressive boast that he recorded the hardest punch ever measured in tests leading up to this weekend’s showdown.
In a video demonstrating Ngannou’s power, a researcher at the UFC’s Performance Institute in Las Vegas explained the danger of his most formidable weapon.
“Frances demonstrating a punching power just over 129,000 units.
“That’s higher than the previous record of 114,000, held by kickboxer Tyrone Spong.

Elsewhere on a stacked card at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Max Holloway defends his featherweight title against two-time champ Jose Aldo in a rematch of their May showdown.
And former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez will throw down with arguably the UFC’s most violent fighter, Justin Gaethje.
